What is the Difference Between a DC Cooling Fan and an AC Cooling Fan?
The principle is different
The power supply of the AC cooling fan is AC, and the power supply voltage will change sinusoidally. However, the power supply voltage of the DC fan is fixed and must rely on circuit control to make the two sets of coils work in turn to generate different magnetic fields. The AC fan has a fixed power frequency, so the magnetic pole change speed generated by the silicon steel sheet is determined by the power frequency. The higher the frequency, the faster the magnetic field switching speed. Theoretically, the faster the speed will be, just like the principle that the more poles of the DC fan, the faster the speed. Same. However, the frequency should not be too fast, too fast will cause difficulty in activation.
Different air volume
For cooling fans of the same size, because the AC fan motor has a large size, the fan blades are short, and the DC fan is just the opposite. The fan blades are long and the motor is small, so the air flow per unit area is more, the air volume is larger, and the heat dissipation capacity is better.
Different materials
The outer frame of the AC fan is generally aluminum frame, while the outer frame of the DC fan is plastic frame. The ability to withstand high temperature is different, and the AC fan is better.

Select the Suitable CFM
Cubic Feet per Minute (CFM) is a measure of the amount of air moved each minute by the cooling fan. The amount of CFM varies depending on the size and type of the fan and must be matched, as closely as possible, to the requirements of your application. If too little CFM is chosen, the fan will not be able to effectively manage the heat load of the device. On the other hand, if too much CFM is chosen there is a risk of damaging the motor by overloading it.
Look for the Right Connector Type
Another important factor to consider when selecting a DC cooling fan is the connector type. Different types of fan connectors include 3-pin, 4-pin, wire leads, and quick-connects. All of these offer different levels of convenience, from reliable hardness to easy wiring. Choose the Right Airflow Direction
The direction of airflow is an important factor to consider when selecting a cooling fan as each type of fan has its own unique airflow direction. Generally, axial cooling fans have an airflow that is parallel to the fan’s axis and are typically used for low-pressure applications. On the other hand, centrifugal cooling fans have an airflow that is perpendicular to their axis and are ideal for higher-pressure applications.

DC cooling fans should be stored in a dry environment to avoid moisture on the motor. When DC cooling fans are stored outdoors, protective measures should be taken. During storage and handling, it is necessary to prevent the DC cooling fan from colliding to prevent damage to the fan.
The fan can only operate under completely normal conditions, while ensuring sufficient capacity and stable voltage of the power supply facilities. It is strictly prohibited to operate without phase. The power supply line must be a dedicated line and temporary lines should not be used for long-term power supply.
The DC cooling fan should be kept clean and tidy in the use environment, with a clean surface. There should be no debris at the inlet and outlet, and dust and other debris inside the fan and pipeline should be regularly removed.
